Academic Skills Center Tutor - Non-Certified at Snapfinger Elementary School

Position Overview

Snapfinger Elementary School is inviting applications for the role of Academic Skills Center Tutor (Non-Certified) to provide targeted tutoring services during regular school hours. Tutors will support students across various subjects while promoting executive functioning skills development. Collaboration with lead tutors, staff, and educators is key to ensure effective student support.

Key Responsibilities

• Offer individualized or small group tutoring sessions assigned within the Academic Skills Centers.
• Work closely with the Lead ASC Tutor, school staff, volunteer tutors, and Assistant Principal to determine effective resources, teaching methods, and tools to address unfinished learning.
• Support students in setting personal academic goals and monitor their progress toward these objectives.
• Facilitate student engagement with appropriate learning materials and resources.
• Maintain behavioral oversight to establish a physically and emotionally safe learning environment.
• Demonstrate constructive social interactions such as turn-taking, active listening, empathy, and kindness to model interpersonal skills.
• Prepare documentation, including attendance records and anecdotal notes, to track student progress accurately.
• Maintain open communication with teachers and families to keep all parties informed about student development.
• Participate in assigned professional development opportunities.
• Carry out additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• For Non-Certified Tutors: High school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
• A minimum of three years’ experience working with children is required.
• Certified Tutors must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and a valid teaching certificate at T-4 level or higher.

Compensation

The pay rate for this position is $18 per hour.
