Role overview
The Academic Officer for Academics at NVN Primary, Nalanda Vidyaniketan in Vijayawada is accountable for maintaining strong academic standards and high-quality teaching across the primary campus. The position focuses on making sure the curriculum is delivered well, academic rules and policies are followed, and learning goals are consistently achieved. It also includes leading academic planning, reviewing outcomes, and driving ongoing improvement in the school’s educational programs.
Curriculum development and implementation
- Create and refresh the primary school curriculum so it aligns with education standards and the learning needs of younger students.
- Introduce effective teaching approaches and classroom tools that improve student engagement and learning.
Teacher support and development
- Guide teachers through regular interactions, planned workshops, and individual support sessions.
- Arrange professional development opportunities that strengthen teaching capability and subject knowledge.
Academic evaluation and reporting
- Track how well teaching methods are working and assess student learning outcomes.
- Prepare and review detailed reports on student performance and curriculum impact.
Policy and compliance
- Ensure academic practices meet educational standards and applicable legal requirements.
- Revise and implement school academic policies as needed.
Parent engagement
- Keep parents informed about curriculum changes and their child’s academic progress.
- Plan parent-teacher meetings and learning-oriented seminars to encourage parent involvement.
Leadership and team management
- Manage and support the academic team at the primary campus while encouraging a cooperative work culture.
- Handle staff performance concerns and student discipline issues when they arise.
Resource management
- Oversee the use of academic resources such as textbooks, teaching materials, and technology tools.
- Make sure classrooms and academic equipment are properly maintained to support teaching activities.
Qualifications
- A master’s degree in Education, Administration, or a closely related discipline is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in educational administration or a leadership position in primary education is needed.
- Strong knowledge of primary education curriculum standards and teaching methods is expected.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities are essential.
- Demonstrated capability to lead teams and build a positive learning environment is important.
Reporting line
This position reports directly to the Principal of NVN Secondary.
