Role overview
This is a senior academic leadership position at a premier foreign university campus in Singapore. The successful candidate will guide the School of Science & Technology in delivering undergraduate and postgraduate education to high standards while ensuring the programs meet both headquarters requirements and Singapore’s regulatory and accreditation expectations.
The position is also suited to an experienced technology-focused mentor who can help shape a forward-looking academic environment.
Key focus areas
You will help steer the school’s academic direction, support teaching where required, and make sure program content stays relevant to industry developments and global trends. Graduate attributes must be built into learning outcomes so students develop the knowledge, skills, and values needed for long-term success.
A major part of the role is building strong connections with industry partners, professional bodies, and other stakeholders to keep the curriculum current and practical. This includes strengthening offerings in emerging and interdisciplinary areas such as Digitalization, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Aquaculture, Environmental Science, and Data Science.
You will also play a central role in developing innovative, future-ready academic programs that respond to changing workforce and societal needs.
Leadership and academic responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction for the school’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Ensure compliance with university-wide policies, professional accreditation standards, and local regulatory frameworks.
- Contribute to classroom teaching when needed.
- Embed graduate attributes into curriculum design and learning outcomes.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with industry, professional organizations, business, government, and community stakeholders.
- Promote interdisciplinary program development in new and emerging subject areas.
- Mentor academic staff and help strengthen their teaching and research capability.
- Encourage a strong research environment and support successful grant applications.
- Foster collaboration that creates practical impact and supports sustainable development.
- Lead and manage a team of 10 direct reports and 4 indirect reports, including academic and administrative staff.
- Support staff performance, professional development, and operational effectiveness.
Candidate profile
- PhD qualification is required.
- At least 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in education and university settings.
- Good working knowledge of university policies, accreditation expectations, and degree program delivery at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Strong leadership, planning, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly, build agreement, and influence decisions in academic, industry, and governance settings.
- Proven ability to create trust and maintain productive relationships across academic teams, administrative departments, and external partners.
- Comfortable working with diverse, multicultural academic and student communities.
- High emotional intelligence, with the ability to listen carefully, respond thoughtfully, and show empathy.
