Job description
Overview
AdventHealth is looking for an Academic Coach in Orlando, Florida. This role supports students’ academic growth and success by partnering with academic departments, faculty, and educational support teams. The position is focused on strengthening student performance, improving retention, and contributing to a values-driven environment centered on whole-person care.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with academic departments to shape coaching support around student needs and institutional priorities.
- Provide individualized coaching to students, with emphasis on time management, study techniques, and critical thinking.
- Design and run student success initiatives such as workshops, seminars, and one-on-one coaching meetings.
- Work with faculty and support services to align academic coaching with the wider educational structure.
- Review the impact of coaching programs and suggest improvements that can strengthen student achievement and retention.
- Track learning outcomes and help identify students who may be at academic risk so early support can be provided.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Schedule and Work Location
This is a full-time, onsite position with a day shift in Orlando, Florida.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of educational methods, academic coaching practices, and student development theory
- Strong leadership and people-management capability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse students, faculty, and staff
- Solid organizational and analytical ability with experience handling complex projects and deadlines
- Self-driven, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving setting
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships across different levels of an academic institution
- Professional judgment, ethics, and conduct in student and colleague interactions
- Comfort using technology to support education, including learning management systems, student information systems, customer relationship management tools, and Microsoft Office 365
- Cultural awareness and effectiveness in a multicultural learning environment
- Experience in a student-support role in higher education is preferred
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
- Field of study should be education or a closely related discipline
- At least 3 years of experience in teaching, tutoring, or a relevant higher-education setting is required
- An equivalent mix of education and applicable experience may be accepted in place of the stated degree requirement
- Examples of acceptable equivalents include: a bachelor’s degree plus 3+ years of teaching/tutoring/higher-education experience, or a master’s degree plus 5+ years of such experience
- No licenses or certifications are required
