Schedule and Work Location
This is a full-time, day-shift position in Rome, Georgia. The work schedule is variable, and the role is based on-site at 501 Redmond Rd NW, Rome, GA 30165.
What You Will Do
- Move patients safely by stretcher, wheelchair, bed, or crib, including helping transfer them between surfaces.
- Carry patient belongings, lab specimens, paperwork, and medical equipment to the proper destination in a timely and accurate way.
- Keep corridors clear by returning unused equipment to the correct storage locations.
- Communicate with patients, families, and care team members, and record transport activity in the system.
- Support efficient operations by handling equipment properly and taking part in training and development activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with a courteous, professional, and customer-focused approach.
- Clear communication in English, with the ability to speak, read, write, and follow verbal instructions.
- Comfort operating stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs.
- Service-oriented mindset with attention to quality and responsiveness.
- Ability to move through different areas of the facility without difficulty.
- Quick judgment and problem-solving in urgent or unusual situations.
- Ability to handle several tasks at once in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and a friendly, reassuring demeanor.
- Physical stamina for frequent or extended walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and patient transfers.
- Basic computer skills for patient information and routine departmental clerical tasks.
- Ability to learn and use department software, tools, policies, and procedures quickly.
- Team-oriented approach with the ability to work well with peers, clinicians, and other departments.
- Consistent attention to patient identification and verification before transport.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior public-contact experience in a medical environment is preferred, and one year of such experience is noted as desirable.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification is required. A driver’s license is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The listed pay range is $13.50 to $20.24 per hour.
