Responsibilities
- Build strong, trusting connections with students through individualized advising and mentorship.
- Support students and their families with four-year academic planning, course choices, and graduation requirements.
- Maintain regular communication with parents through meetings, workshops, and helpful educational resources.
- Offer tailored college and career counseling across a wide range of pathways, including universities, Christian colleges, community colleges, military service, trade programs, and direct career options.
- Guide students through college applications, essay writing, counselor recommendations, financial aid, scholarship applications, and enrollment decisions.
- Track academic progress and work closely with teachers, school leadership, and families to help students stay on track.
- Arrange college representative visits, college fairs, career exploration activities, and parent information evenings.
- Keep student records accurate and support graduation planning and post-secondary reporting.
- Help sustain a positive, Christ-centered school environment as part of the High School Leadership Team.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in School Counseling, Educational Counseling, or a closely related area is preferred.
- Background in academic advising, school counseling, college admissions, college counseling, or secondary education.
- Strong understanding of college admissions, financial aid, and California graduation standards, including UC/CSU A-G eligibility.
- Excellent communication abilities, strong organization, and a proven capacity for building relationships.
- A collaborative, student-first mindset with the ability to support a diverse range of learners and families.
- Personal faith commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with Brave Christian Schools’ mission, values, and Statement of Faith.
