About the Role
The Department of Children and Families is seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Community Worker to join the Regional Services team in the Greater Darwin Region. This role is crucial in providing essential cultural support services to children, young people, and their families. The primary objective is to mitigate the risk of harm to children, ensuring all actions align with departmental policies, procedures, and the Care and Protection of Children Act.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver culturally appropriate support services to children, youth, and families.
- Implement strategies to reduce the risk of harm to children.
- Adhere strictly to departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with the Care and Protection of Children Act.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to provide comprehensive care.
Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture and community dynamics.
- Experience in child protection or community services is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks and record-keeping.
