About the Role
Barróg Healthcare is seeking dedicated Social Care Workers to join their team in Cork. This role is crucial in providing aftercare, transitional care, and outreach support to young people and vulnerable adults living independently or within family/foster care settings. The primary goal is to support individuals in achieving their developmental milestones and promoting their community inclusion and equal citizenship. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement care and placement plans, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Uphold the rights and responsibilities of each service user.
- Encourage service users' participation in education, training, and appointments.
- Liaise with families, external agencies, and general services on behalf of service users.
- Follow directions from the management team and implement company policies and procedures.
- Contribute to household management, including meal preparation, budgeting, and upkeep.
- Attend and actively participate in staff and team meetings, providing constructive input on care plans and service delivery.
- Maintain accountability for any finances managed on behalf of the company.
- Prepare regular written and verbal progress reports for management.
- Document and report all incidents involving service users.
- Be familiar with and implement emergency procedures.
- Stay updated on current legislation and professional knowledge in childcare.
- Engage in ongoing professional training and development, including regular supervision.
- Prepare reports for and participate in professional meetings such as case conferences and strategy meetings, maintaining high standards of record-keeping.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Must have the legal right to work in Ireland.
- Possess at least one year of experience in a healthcare or disability support environment.
- Hold a minimum of a B.A. in Social Care or a QQI Level 7 qualification, along with current registration with CORU as a Social Care Worker, or have an application in progress.
- Possess one of the following qualifications: National Diploma in Childcare, National Diploma in Applied Social Care Studies, Diploma in Social Care, Diploma in Applied Social Studies/Social Care, BA (Ordinary Degree) in Social Care Practice (Level 7 QQI), or Open Training College National Diploma in Applied Social Studies (Disability), or an equivalent qualification recognized by regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrate the ability to support clients non-judgmentally from a trauma-informed perspective.
- Exhibit proficiency in managing and preventing challenging behaviors.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Be comfortable using essential IT systems for reporting.
- A full, clean driver's license is advantageous.
- Experience in report writing and developing client support plans is beneficial.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviors and mental health issues is a plus.
