Job description
Programme overview
This internship programme is structured to strengthen your capabilities through organised training and ongoing guidance. You will build confidence by contributing to genuine projects and learning directly how services are delivered to clients around the world. The experience is designed to help you connect with colleagues across the organisation and begin growing your professional network.
Location
The opportunity is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Business division
The Investment Banking & Capital Markets team offers the full range of advisory and financing solutions expected from a major global investment bank. Its client base includes large and mid-sized corporates, financial institutions, governments, public agencies, and financial sponsors. The team supports both buy-side and sell-side advisory work, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring advice, debt and equity capital raising, and structured equity transactions. It also advises on cross-border and regional deals across the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
Internship responsibilities
As an intern, you will gain exposure to the business from multiple angles and contribute to both everyday work and special assignments. The role offers practical learning across industry and product coverage areas, with opportunities to see market-leading solutions in action. Typical work may involve assessing companies, building models for M&A transactions, preparing sector research for client pitches, and supporting live deal execution.
Candidate profile
Applicants should be intelligent, adaptable, and strong communicators. The programme is open to students from a wide range of academic backgrounds. While numerical ability is useful in some roles, a formal finance or mathematics background is not required because technical training will be provided.
Eligibility
- You must finish all studies, including final exams and coursework, with no remaining graduation requirements, between 1 June 2027 and 31 January 2028.
- You must be available to work full time during the internship period from December 2026 to February 2027.
Benefits and wellbeing
The organisation places strong emphasis on wellbeing and supports employees with benefits and programmes designed to help them feel healthy, engaged, and well supported both inside and outside the office.

The workplace is built around belonging, respect, and inclusion. Teams are expected to bring different skills, backgrounds, and perspectives together, support open discussion, and value diversity of thought. High standards of conduct and performance are encouraged, and the organisation welcomes people from all cultures, countries, races, genders, sexual orientations, disabilities, beliefs, and generations. The working environment is intended to be free from harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
Application process
Applicants are encouraged to use the employability resources provided to prepare for the process, understand assessments, and adjust to a new work environment.
