Internship Details

The internship begins in mid-November after exams, includes a three-week holiday break over Christmas and New Year, and ends early February before your final university year. It starts with a two-day orientation at the office where interns learn about Deloitte’s corporate culture and expectations. You will join a group of over 150 peers, learning collaboratively while building your career foundation. Between application and start date, Deloitte provides ongoing engagement including a mentor or buddy to support your transition.

Role Overview

This role involves delivering high-quality and practical tax solutions that create significant impact for clients. You will work closely within the tax team on projects related to tax consulting and compliance, collaborating with senior professionals including partners and managers. The team, consisting mainly of accountants and lawyers specialized in tax legislation and international tax, assists a varied client base from private companies to multinational corporations. Additionally, the tax team often works alongside other Deloitte units such as Business Advisory and Strategy Risk & Transactions.

Typical Daily Activities

  • Collaborating with clients to address complex tax matters
  • Researching, analyzing, and interpreting technical tax issues
  • Helping clients achieve business goals by leveraging tax expertise
  • Supporting clients in meeting tax compliance obligations and deadlines
  • Gaining knowledge in diverse tax areas including Corporate Tax, Private Tax Advisory, International Tax, Tax Policy, Indirect Tax, Mergers & Acquisitions Tax, and Transfer Pricing

Candidate Profile

  • Currently pursuing any degree with an interest in business and tax careers; Commerce or Law degrees offer an advantage but are not mandatory
  • Analytical and detail-focused mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and comfort working with numbers
  • Motivated, intellectually curious, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of managing client relationships and balancing priorities within teams
  • No prior experience required, but part-time jobs or internships in finance, accounting, customer service, retail, or hospitality are beneficial
