Role Summary
This role offers a chance to make a meaningful difference by offering dedicated, individualized support to a Year 4 pupil diagnosed with ADHD and ASD. The position involves delivering tailored interventions to facilitate learning, emotional regulation, and independence while implementing Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) strategies that address sensory needs, attention, motor skills, and social communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer one-to-one support aligned with the pupil’s EHCP outcomes and provisions.
- Modify lessons and materials to accommodate the pupil's unique learning style, sensory sensitivities, and attention requirements.
- Apply strategies to encourage emotional control, focus, positive behavior, and executive functioning suitable for children with ASD and ADHD in harmony with the EHCP.
- Collaborate closely with the classroom teacher to plan, execute, and evaluate support, promoting inclusion within classroom activities and throughout the school.
- Track, document, and report progress relating to EHCP goals, and participate in related meetings and paperwork.
- Encourage the pupil's independence, confidence, and social skills, guiding them toward managing their own behavior and learning.
- Provide support during school transitions such as moving between lessons or changes in routine to ensure the pupil feels prepared and secure.
- Maintain open communication with parents, the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), and outside specialists to ensure a consistent and effective support system.
- Uphold the pupil’s dignity, safety, and well-being by adhering to safeguarding, confidentiality, and health and safety policies.
- Engage in reflective practice and ongoing training to deepen understanding of ASD, ADHD, and inclusive teaching methods.
- Consistently promote the school's safeguarding protocols, health and safety standards, and ethos.
Qualifications and Experience
- A solid understanding of child developmental stages and learning methods.
- Knowledge of various special educational needs (SEN) and how to support them effectively.
- Proven ability to form positive connections with pupils, staff, and families.
- Competency in literacy, numeracy, and basic ICT applications.
- Patience, empathy, and persistence when supporting children with challenges.
- Capability to follow teacher instructions while exercising independent judgment.
- A compassionate and supportive attitude.
- Adaptability and flexibility in response to changing situations.

Additional Information
The contract offered is full-time, fixed-term until July 3rd, 2026, with a possibility of extension. The position is based onsite at Cumnor House School in Croydon, England. Working hours are 40 per week. The salary ranges from 21,280 to 22,800 annually, depending upon experience. Immediate start is preferred.
