About the Role

NZ Post is seeking a Transition Manager to spearhead a major transformation within their facilities management function. This 12-month fixed-term position based in Wellington offers the opportunity to design and implement a new hybrid facilities management model combining an internal team with outsourced specialist services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full transition programme, including strategy development, roadmap creation, and governance establishment.
  • Manage supplier transitions, contract exits, and knowledge transfer activities to ensure service continuity.
  • Engage stakeholders effectively through communication and change management initiatives.
  • Design and deploy a future operating model supporting in-house capability and outsourced trade partners.
  • Oversee recruitment and set up of internal facilities management resources.
  • Facilitate onboarding of new service providers and trade specialists.
  • Ensure operational systems, processes, reporting structures, and KPIs are ready and functional.
  • Control programme risks, budget adherence, timelines, and performance monitoring.
  • Drive supplier compliance, performance improvement, and maintain health and safety standards.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and safety throughout the transition.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced transformation leader with a minimum of five years' leadership background in facilities, property, or asset management or related areas. They excel in managing complex transitions, balancing strategic planning with hands-on problem-solving, and are confident working with senior stakeholders. Strong commercial insight, change management expertise, and knowledge of New Zealand's building codes, health and safety legislation and regulatory environment are essential.

Additional Information

  • The role reports to the National Facilities & Asset Manager.
  • Applications close on Sunday 2nd August 2026, but candidate early submissions are encouraged due to potential changes in closing dates.
