About the Role
NZ Post is seeking a Transition Manager to spearhead a major transformation within their facilities management function. This 12-month fixed-term position based in Wellington offers the opportunity to design and implement a new hybrid facilities management model combining an internal team with outsourced specialist services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full transition programme, including strategy development, roadmap creation, and governance establishment.
- Manage supplier transitions, contract exits, and knowledge transfer activities to ensure service continuity.
- Engage stakeholders effectively through communication and change management initiatives.
- Design and deploy a future operating model supporting in-house capability and outsourced trade partners.
- Oversee recruitment and set up of internal facilities management resources.
- Facilitate onboarding of new service providers and trade specialists.
- Ensure operational systems, processes, reporting structures, and KPIs are ready and functional.
- Control programme risks, budget adherence, timelines, and performance monitoring.
- Drive supplier compliance, performance improvement, and maintain health and safety standards.
- Promote a culture of high performance and safety throughout the transition.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced transformation leader with a minimum of five years' leadership background in facilities, property, or asset management or related areas. They excel in managing complex transitions, balancing strategic planning with hands-on problem-solving, and are confident working with senior stakeholders. Strong commercial insight, change management expertise, and knowledge of New Zealand's building codes, health and safety legislation and regulatory environment are essential.
