Job description
About Foodstuffs Own Brands
Foodstuffs Own Brands is part of the Foodstuffs co-operative network, responsible nationally for over 2,500 private label products including well-known grocery brands like Pams. The team is dedicated to managing the strategic lifecycle of private brand products from initial concept through to consumer purchase, always focusing on customer needs.
Role Overview
We seek an experienced and commercially skilled Sourcing Manager to join our Own Brands team. This role focuses on achieving optimal cost pricing across a portfolio of private label products while supporting category strategies to deliver long-term value for both the Foodstuffs co-operatives and customers. The manager will lead supplier negotiations, tenders, and sourcing projects in collaboration with Category Product Managers, Product Developers, and suppliers to balance cost efficiency, quality, innovation, and supply stability. This position emphasizes upstream sourcing and negotiation rather than daily stock handling.
Key Responsibilities and Skills Required
The role demands strong commercial acumen, expert negotiation abilities, and the capacity to cultivate strategic stakeholder relationships. A comprehensive understanding of category cost drivers, commodity price trends, supplier capabilities, and market dynamics is essential. The manager will identify strategies to enhance supplier performance, reduce expenditure, and secure competitive advantages.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a robust background in category management, sourcing, purchasing, or commercial roles within FMCG, food, or retail sectors. They will be inquisitive, commercially minded, and adept at managing complex tenders and multiple stakeholder relationships.
Additional Attributes and Benefits
Applicants should demonstrate resilience, initiative, and a commitment to continual improvement. The company provides a supportive environment with benefits including free parking (with EV charging), Southern Cross health plans for employees and families, an onsite café offering subsidized meals, a mini-mart, retail discounts, flexible work arrangements, a day off on employees' birthdays, onsite social activities, learning and development programs, flu vaccinations, and social groups known as Tribes.
Diversity & Inclusion and AI Hiring Process
Foodstuffs emphasizes diversity and inclusion, fostering courageous behavior and teamwork to empower employees to be their best selves. The hiring process may involve AI tools to assist in reviewing applications and resumes; however, all final decisions are made by human recruiters. Candidates can inquire about data processing practices if desired.
