Role Overview

As a Bakery Specialist based in stores, you will play a pivotal role partnering with bakery teams to uncover business opportunities, craft actionable solutions, and drive measurable improvements. Reporting to the Bakery Lead, you will leverage bakery expertise, commercial insights, and coaching skills to elevate operational standards across multiple stores.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide and support Bakery Team Leaders and their teams through coaching and mentorship to enhance skills and performance.
• Conduct frequent store visits, compile detailed business reports, and analyze trends to identify growth and operational improvement opportunities.
• Ensure stores comply with all health, safety, and food safety standards applicable to food retail and wholesale sectors.
• Perform Technical Sign Offs for Trainee Operators, and assist with setup and refurbishing of new store bakeries.
• Facilitate implementation of business strategies in stores, improving bakery operations including range management, sourcing, pricing, and promotional activities.

Candidate Profile

We seek a seasoned bakery expert who clearly understands high-performing retail bakery operations and how to engage and inspire teams effectively. Combining operational acumen with excellent communication, commercial awareness, and meticulous attention to detail will be essential.

• Confirmed track record managing bakery departments within retail or a relevant tertiary qualification.
• Experience in business analysis including trend spotting and identifying operational risks.
• Strong skills in interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution, supported by FMCG industry experience.
• Familiarity with operational management of fresh foods including assortment planning, sourcing, pricing, and promotions.
• Background in category management for mid-to-large scale merchandise brands with a focus on operational precision.
• A current full driver’s license and readiness for regular travel.
