About the Service

The Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service provides specialised mental health and addiction care across multiple regions including Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands, and Banana.

Currently, the service is enhancing care capacity with the launch of a new 32-bed Adult Inpatient Mental Health facility incorporating high and low dependency units, therapy areas, administrative offices, indoor gardens, and safety features designed for both patients and staff wellbeing.

Role Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing care for patients following professional standards.
• Provide direct care to individuals with complex needs ensuring evidence-based clinical practice and respect for patient rights.
• Coordinate shifts and offer leadership to support efficient unit operations.
• Stay updated on clinical practice standards and mentor colleagues and nursing students.
• Participate actively in interdisciplinary patient care reviews and collaborate effectively within the care team.

Candidate Requirements

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) via AHPRA.
• A strong dedication to applying clinical evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety.
• Comprehensive understanding of relevant clinical guidelines, standards, and risk management in advanced practice.
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships within multidisciplinary teams.
• Capacity to work independently within frameworks focused on quality, safety, and risk mitigation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with modern clinical information systems.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual remuneration up to $127,861 including an hourly wage between $44.06 and $56.51.
