Role Overview

The Purchasing Officer role is based at Sydney Airport and is crucial to maintaining efficient supply chains that meet demanding operational and food safety standards. You will manage purchasing and stock control to support our fast-paced catering operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee purchase orders and manage relationships with suppliers.
• Coordinate timely deliveries with production and kitchen teams.
• Monitor inventory levels, ensure proper stock rotation, and maintain storage organization.
• Verify all goods meet established quality, hygiene, and safety protocols.
• Track product expiry dates to minimize waste.
• Conduct stocktaking and maintain precise inventory records.
• Address and resolve discrepancies in deliveries and supplier issues.
• Keep storage areas clean and organized.
• Ensure adherence to food safety (HACCP, QSAI) and workplace health and safety standards.
• Support initiatives for cost-effective purchasing and continuous process improvement.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong time management capabilities.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple departments in a fast-moving environment.
• Proficient with ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Familiarity with food safety standards such as HACCP, QSAI, and workplace health and safety.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in airline catering or the food industry is a distinct advantage.
