About the Role
As a Patient Access Coordinator with Hanger, Inc., you will be integral to providing patients, staff, and referral sources with an efficient and welcoming front office experience. Hanger, a leader in orthotic and prosthetic services with over 160 years of clinical innovation, aims to empower human potential through advanced healthcare solutions and superior service.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist patients upon arrival, providing wait time information and answering front desk inquiries.
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information during check-in; manage walk-in registrations.
- Collect payments including deductibles, copays, and coinsurance at the front desk.
- Schedule follow-up appointments for cast and measure, delivery, and prosthetic care plans.
- Act as a resource liaison offering details about clinic services, patient experience programs, support groups, and related resources.
- Support administrative tasks by collaborating with the Revenue Cycle Management team to gather necessary patient details.
- Maintain accurate and complete electronic health records for all patients.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred to be a good fit as identified by Hanger's Talent Sorter assessment, which is part of the selection process.
- Under one year of customer service, administrative, or related experience is required.
- Experience in reception or medical front office operations is preferred.
- Must possess or qualify for a valid driver’s license meeting standards of Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
Additional Skills and Qualities
- Strong interpersonal, verbal (including telephone), and written communication skills.
- Typing speed of 30 words per minute with accuracy.
- Ability to work compassionately with disabled individuals.
- Knowledge of Alpha filing systems and preferably medical terminology and reimbursement processes.
- Proficiency in using Windows-based software, email, and office equipment such as fax machines, calculators, postage machines, and copiers.
- High ethical standards, honesty, transparency, and respectfulness in all interactions.
- Focus on patient-centric care, fostering lifelong trust.
- Encouraging open collaboration and constructive communication.

Compensation and Benefits (California State Only)
The hourly wage ranges from $23 to $25, supplemented by bonuses and benefits. Compensation may vary based on skills, knowledge, geographic location, and other factors.
