About the Role
Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara, part of Minor Hotels' extensive portfolio of over 530 properties representing multiple brands internationally, is looking for a Marine Operations Manager based in Doha, Qatar. Minor Hotels operates globally across various regions, emphasizing quality and diversity.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the marine operations and manage a fleet consisting of 50-seat catamarans, patrol boats, and pontoon boats.
- Provide comprehensive training programs for boat skippers, crews, and marine hostesses to maintain high operating standards.
- Manage scheduling, leave, and performance evaluations of all marine staff including boat captains and hostesses.
- Regularly inspect vessels to ensure seaworthiness and operational condition of navigation and communication equipment.
- Enforce grooming and hygiene standards for the marine team in alignment with company policies.
- Maintain records of all consumables, equipment, and tools related to boat operations and replenish inventory as needed.
- Monitor and track the fleet's status and ensure that boat schedules are followed as per company requirements.
- Ensure vessels are consistently cleaned and maintained to prescribed standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all boat operations and related activities.
- Conduct safety drills and rescue procedures, including sea trials, and make critical decisions during adverse weather conditions.
- Perform minor repairs on boats and coordinate with local authorities and third-party vendors for specialized maintenance such as hull cleaning, dry docking, and equipment upkeep.
- Manage interaction with coastguard, port authorities, and engine/boat suppliers to ensure smooth operational compliance and assistance.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 7 to 10 years of substantial experience in marina or marine operations.
- Mandatory sailing background in luxury yacht or cruise line operations.
- Strong expertise in navigation and familiarity with maritime routes, particularly within Qatar and its bordering marinas.
- Completion of International Maritime Organization (IMO) certifications is compulsory.
- Possession of valid licenses including boat driving, diving, and marine/marina certifications such as CMM and AMMC/IMM.
- Comprehensive knowledge of maritime regulations and rules applicable in the region.
- Customer-focused approach to service delivery.
