Role Overview

Join a globally connected consultancy team as a Lead Civil Engineer in Palmerston North, driving impactful transport infrastructure projects across New Zealand. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the planning, design, and execution of complex civil and infrastructure projects from initial concept through to completion.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers and designers, encouraging professional development within the team.
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with high standards of quality, safety, timetable, and budget requirements.
  • Oversee contract administration and project coordination, maintaining effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvements in design methodologies, digital workflows, and sustainable practices.
  • Keep current with relevant engineering standards, codes, and emerging technologies pertinent to infrastructure.

Candidate Profile

  • Pursuit or possession of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Ten to twenty years of professional experience in civil engineering, with preference for those holding or working towards Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
  • Demonstrated success in leading civil infrastructure projects across diverse sectors.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop engineering teams.
  • Robust technical design expertise along with solid project and contract management understanding.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills with a focus on adding value.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects collaboratively to high standards.
  • Analytical mindset, problem-solving capabilities, strong communication skills, and proficiency in engineering software and tools.
  • A collaborative team player committed to continuous learning, inclusion, and process improvement.
