Mango Group is a family-operated organization based in Bangor, Co. Down, encompassing diverse businesses such as Mango Direct Marketing—a 24/7 contact center and fulfillment service, The Stormy Cup hospitality unit, and Mango Estates which manages commercial and residential properties locally.
Role Overview
We seek a resourceful and hands-on Facilities Co-ordinator to oversee and support maintenance and facilities operations across all Mango Group businesses. The ideal candidate enjoys practical problem-solving, is skilled in maintenance tasks, and can coordinate contractors when specialized assistance is needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform practical repairs, basic maintenance, and DIY tasks across Mango Group properties.
- Detect and troubleshoot maintenance issues and attempt to rectify them independently when feasible.
- Handle minor painting, decorating, plumbing, carpentry, furniture repairs, and general upkeep duties.
- Execute straightforward electrical maintenance tasks where trained and escalate complex electrical issues to qualified specialists.
- Manage general housekeeping and oversee facilities maintenance requirements.
- Identify and report health and safety concerns, implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor a dedicated Facilities Mailbox, logging and managing complaints and maintenance-related inquiries about heating, lighting, cleaning, waste disposal, and related services.
- Organize repairs and servicing between internal departments and external contractors, ensuring completion and follow-up.
- Solicit and evaluate quotations from vendors and suppliers for maintenance work.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify maintenance needs for structures, equipment, furniture, and facilities.
- Prepare monthly Health and Safety audit reports and update Outstanding Points Lists accordingly.
- Collaborate with senior management on various projects and ad hoc tasks.
- Support office relocations, refurbishments, and property-related initiatives.
- Maintain a neat and well-organized stock room.
- Assist in fulfilment and warehouse operations including stock handling, dispatch, and organizational tasks.
- Coordinate deliveries and collections of stock materials.
- Conduct local delivery and collection runs, occasionally traveling to Belfast, Dublin, or other locations as required.
- Provide client transportation from airports or train stations when necessary.
- Offer practical support to Mango Estates including property inspections, housekeeping, maintenance, and contractor coordination.
- Undertake additional duties aligned with role responsibilities and business needs.
Candidate Profile
- Practical and proactive individual with a strong problem-solving mindset and an eagerness to fix and maintain infrastructure.
- Confident in using basic hand tools and performing maintenance and repair work.
- Ability to identify faults and independently determine necessary corrective actions.
- Desirable experience or knowledge in plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical work, painting, decorating, and general building upkeep.
- Previous involvement in facilities management, coordination, property maintenance, or similar hands-on roles.
- Sound understanding of health and safety standards and when to engage qualified contractors for specialist tasks.
- Self-motivated and takes initiative to manage maintenance tasks proactively.
- Willingness to adapt to a dynamic workload involving various practical and operational activities.
- Skilled in independently prioritizing workload and balancing conflicting demands.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for effective interactions via face-to-face, email, and telephone.
- Team-oriented but comfortable working autonomously.
- Possesses a valid full driving license (essential requirement).
- Physically capable of manual handling duties, including lifting and moving loads exceeding 30 lbs.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and business leaders.
- Commercially aware with the ability to manage budgets and pursue cost efficiencies through procurement and vendor management.
