Position Overview
The Admissions Officer plays a critical role in managing the recruitment and admission of domestic first-year undergraduate candidates. Responsibilities include evaluating applications, conducting recruitment travel, and supporting on-campus and online engagement events for prospective students.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and make decisions on undergraduate applications or refer them to senior admissions staff.
- Participate in recruitment activities such as high school visits, college fairs, regional interviews, and other related events.
- Provide guidance and expert advice to prospective students, families, alumni, and college counselors through outreach initiatives.
- Host on-campus information sessions, conduct interviews, and deliver presentations about university offerings, student life, and admission procedures at both physical and virtual events.
- Design and implement recruitment plans targeted to specific geographic areas, analyze previous recruitment outcomes, and coordinate fall and spring recruitment activities.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $58,000 to $60,000. American University offers competitive benefits and is committed to equal opportunity employment.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Less than one year of relevant admissions or related professional experience preferred.
- Master's degree or equivalent and 1-3 years of related experience considered advantageous.
