Role Overview
As a Workers Compensation Specialist based in Mascot, New South Wales, you will support injured employees, manage compensation claims, and help ensure cases are handled efficiently and in line with applicable laws and regulations. The position sits within a small and committed claims management team, and FedEx operates as a self-insured licensee under the Comcare scheme.
Key Responsibilities
- Support injured team members throughout the claims process and help manage cases proactively.
- Work with all involved parties to uncover barriers to recovery and return to work, then build and apply suitable claims strategies.
- Keep regular, constructive contact with injured employees and maintain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
- Decide claim liability and benefit entitlements in accordance with legislative obligations.
- Maintain records that are detailed, organized, and compliant.
- Partner with internal colleagues to ensure benefits are calculated and paid correctly under the law.
- Prepare and lodge reports for regulators and internal audiences as required.
- Review data to spot trends and suggest actions to reduce risk.
- Coordinate with Health, Wellness and Rehabilitation, HR, Legal, and Safety teams to help achieve the best possible outcomes.
What You Need
- Prior experience managing workers compensation claims, preferably within the Comcare scheme.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Well-developed administrative and organisational skills, with careful attention to detail.
- Practical, unbiased problem-solving skills and a strong customer service mindset.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving environment.
- Good time management and the flexibility to respond quickly to changing priorities.
- Comfort using MS Office and related software tools.
