An innovative software business is seeking an experienced Software Architect to help define the next stage of its growth. This is a platform-focused architecture position rather than a legacy support role. You will contribute to the design of a brand-new cloud-native SaaS platform that powers high-volume, business-critical operations.

In this role, you will set the architectural direction, shape engineering standards, and help build a solution that is scalable, resilient, and secure for the long term.

Flexible hybrid working in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.

What you will do

As the Software Architect, you will partner closely with engineering leadership to guide the platform’s long-term technical strategy. You will combine strategic thinking with practical technical leadership, supporting teams through important design decisions and ensuring the platform remains robust, maintainable, and secure.

You will also shape technology choices, mentor engineers, promote best practices, and contribute to the evolution of the company’s overall engineering capability.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of the architecture for a modern cloud-native SaaS platform.
• Create the long-term technical direction and architectural plan.
• Design distributed systems that are scalable, resilient, secure, and capable of handling very high transaction volumes.
• Provide architectural leadership across application, cloud, integration, and data layers.
• Set engineering standards, design principles, and governance practices.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product to ensure technical decisions support business goals.
• Support teams in resolving complex technical issues and making informed architectural trade-offs.
• Promote contemporary engineering approaches such as Domain-Driven Design, Event-Driven Architecture, and Microservices.
• Improve performance, reliability, observability, and operational excellence on an ongoing basis.
• Help shape the company’s AI direction by identifying responsible ways to use AI in engineering processes and future platform capabilities.
• Coach senior engineers and help build a culture centred on technical quality.

Technology environment

You will work in a modern stack that includes TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL, Angular, HTML, CSS, Node.js, NestJS, AWS, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, S3, RDS, ElastiCache/Redis, Docker, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Datadog, microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, Domain-Driven Design, and cloud-native applications.

Candidate background

The ideal candidate will likely come from a Software Architect, Technical Architect, Platform Architect, Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or Lead Software Engineer role with substantial architectural responsibility.

What you should bring

You should have strong experience delivering cloud-native SaaS products, hands-on AWS architecture capability, and deep knowledge of distributed systems and microservices. A strong grasp of architecture patterns and modern engineering principles is important, along with experience building platforms that are highly available, resilient, and scalable.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are required, as well as a collaborative leadership style that allows you to influence teams without direct line management. A genuine interest in technology and continuous improvement is also important.
