In this Scientist role, you will take ownership of LC/MS-based bioanalytical work across preclinical, clinical, and product release studies. The position is based in Hamburg and is a permanent, on-site opportunity.

What you will do

• Independently drive assay development, method validation, and sample testing for pharmaceuticals and biomarkers taken from biological matrices, using chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques.
• Work with a range of analyte types, including small molecules, biologics, proteins, peptides, ADCs, and biomarkers.
• Plan experiments, carry them out on your own, solve technical issues, interpret findings, and compile tables, plans, reports, and SOPs.
• Manage compliance requirements throughout the assay lifecycle, including identifying deviations quickly and preparing the related records and documentation.
• Create and maintain studies in LIMS and keep laboratory documentation, worksheets, and raw data accurate and review-ready.

What helps you succeed

You should bring hands-on experience with LC/MS assay development, validation, and routine execution, along with the ability to handle custom research planning and bench work independently. Success in this role also depends on strong teamwork, clear communication, adaptability, and a proactive mindset.

Working knowledge of SCIEX 7500+ and SCIEX OS is preferred, especially the ability to operate the instruments and understand output data. Experience in controlled or regulated environments and familiarity with GDP, GLP, GCLP, and GCP are also advantageous. The role requires strong customer focus and the ability to support both internal and external stakeholders effectively.

Education and experience

Preferred qualifications are grouped by scientist level:

• Scientist I: a bachelor’s degree plus at least 6 years in a scientific laboratory, or a master’s degree plus at least 4 years, or a PhD plus at least 2 years.
• Scientist II: a bachelor’s degree plus at least 8 years in a scientific laboratory, or a master’s degree plus at least 6 years, or a PhD plus at least 4 years.

Relevant academic backgrounds include molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, biotechnology, or a closely related discipline.

Technical expertise

• Solid knowledge of regulatory guidance and industry practices related to LC/MS and large-molecule assays.
• Proven ability to develop chromatographic and mass spectrometric methods, including LC/MS and LC/MS/MS, for bioanalytical studies.
• Experience extracting analytes from complex biological matrices using techniques such as protein precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction, solid phase extraction, immunoprecipitation, and similar approaches.
• Advanced capability in data handling, visualisation, and statistical analysis.
• Comfort with tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, SCIEX OS, MassLynx, XCalibur, Chromeleon, Watson LIMS, JMP, and GraphPad Prism.
