About the Role

JetBrains has been building tools that help developers move faster with less friction since 2000, with a strong emphasis on automating repetitive checks and fixes. This opening sits within Hexana, a project in JetBrains’ Innovation Hub focused on reverse engineering and binary analysis. The team is creating a toolkit that adds semantic understanding of compiled binaries to the IDE, together with AI-assisted disassembly workflows.

Hexana began with WebAssembly and has already reached an MVP stage with more than 1,000 downloads, along with early users that include teams at Oracle and others in the Kotlin ecosystem. The next step is to expand into a broader binary landscape that includes ELF, Mach-O, PE, APE, LLVM bytecode, and related formats, with the ambition of establishing a new product category inside the IDE ecosystem.

JetBrains is looking for a Product Manager to help move Hexana from early validation into a scalable, well-positioned product. The role will focus on research, sharpening product direction, and building a strong case for long-term impact.

What You Will Do

  • Speak with system engineers, reverse engineers, compiler developers, and other advanced users to learn how they work and what they need at the binary level.
  • Turn technical possibilities and user pain points into a roadmap that is clear, credible, and strategically defensible.
  • Keep testing assumptions and improving positioning through ongoing research and competitive analysis.
  • Monitor the reverse engineering and binary tooling market, including products such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja, and similar tools, to shape strategy.
  • Develop and refine the approach to go-to-market and monetization.
  • Share product updates, strategic direction, and results with JetBrains sponsors and internal stakeholders.

What Makes You a Strong Match

  • At least 5 years of experience in product management or a comparable role with similar ownership.
  • Background in building or scaling developer tools, IDE plugins, workflow platforms, or other technically demanding software products.
  • Direct experience contributing to the success of a technically complex product, beyond simply supporting process work.
  • A strong technical mindset and the ability to earn the confidence of engineers working with compilers, binary formats, and low-level systems.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and an interest in turning research and exploration into product direction.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Work experience in reverse engineering, compiler technology, security, or binary tooling.
  • Zero-to-one experience helping shape an early product, validate assumptions, and drive first adoption.
  • A motivation to make complex low-level systems more elegant, easier to use, and more naturally integrated into the developer experience.

Additional Information

This is an opportunity to help define how binary intelligence becomes part of the modern IDE experience, supported by one of the most respected names in developer tools. The team is small, highly technical, and ambitious.

JetBrains is an equal opportunity employer and aims to foster an open, inclusive workplace for people of all backgrounds, identities, religions, ages, accessibility needs, and orientations.

Role Fit

This position is especially well-suited to someone who wants to help shape a new category in developer tooling, enjoys working on low-level systems and reverse engineering, and likes combining deep technical work with product strategy in a small team.
