Overview
Join His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service as an Operational Support Grade at HMP Grendon and HMP Springhill. This role involves assisting in the smooth, safe operation of a busy prison through varied tasks including security, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, monitoring phone calls and CCTV, and occasional prisoner interaction. The position combines desk duties with physical activity such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles within the prison grounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct security checks and searches at the prison entrance.
- Manage the receipt and dispatch of deliveries.
- Oversee visitor supervision during their time on site.
- Monitor communications through phone calls and CCTV systems.
- Perform driving tasks within the prison grounds as required.
Requirements
- Possession of a full, valid UK driving licence is mandatory.
- Ability to communicate effectively and remain composed in high-pressure situations.
- Good judgment, common sense, and ability to work well within a team environment.
Working Conditions and Shifts
The role requires working varied shifts, including weekends and nights, to support continuous prison operations. Limited interaction with prisoners may occur depending on the site.
