Overview

Join His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Grendon and Springhill, Hulcott, England. This vital role supports the smooth daily operations of a busy prison, involving a blend of security, administrative, and physical tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Conducting security procedures including searches at the prison entrance.
Managing deliveries and supervising visitors to the facility.
Monitoring phone calls and CCTV systems to maintain safety and security.
Performing physical duties such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles around the prison grounds.
Working various shifts, including weekends and nights, to ensure continuous operations.
Driving duties requiring a valid UK driving licence.

Candidate Profile

This position does not require formal qualifications but demands strong communication skills, the ability to stay calm under pressure, sound judgement, common sense, and a collaborative spirit. Although interaction with prisoners is limited compared to prison officers, occasional contact may occur depending on the site.

Benefits

Gross annual salary of £29,432.
Starting annual leave of 25 days, increasing to 30 days after 10 years' service (pro-rated).
