Overview

Join His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Grendon and HMP Springhill located in Kingswood, England. This role involves supporting the daily functioning of a busy prison through various operational tasks combining administrative and physical activities.

Key Responsibilities

You will undertake security procedures such as searches at the entrance gate, manage incoming deliveries, supervise visitors, monitor phone communication, and oversee CCTV operations. The role also includes physically demanding duties, including lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles within the prison environment. Shift work is required, including weekend and night shifts, to ensure smooth prison operations. Driving is a core part of the job, and holding a valid UK driving license is mandatory.

Candidate Profile

No formal qualifications are required, but effective communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential. You will need good judgment, practical sense, and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team. While direct prisoner contact is usually limited, occasional interactions may occur depending on the location.
