Pre School Leader

Role Overview

We are offering an exciting position for an experienced Early Years Specialist to lead the Pre-School provision at St George's Church of England Primary School located in Bourton, North Dorset. This permanent, full-time role involves leading the Shining Stars Pre-School, part of the Pickwick Academy Trust, which provides nurturing care and education for children aged 2 to 5 years.

The preschool operates within a Christian ethos inspired by the principle "Let your light shine" (Matthew 5:16), nurturing children academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually from the start of their education journey. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Pre-School team to deliver excellent early education.
• Oversee the daily operations and administration of the pre-school provision.
• Plan and implement a balanced curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Evaluate and track children's development to tailor sessions and targeted interventions.
• Be responsible for safeguarding in collaboration with the school's designated safeguarding leaders.
• Continuously develop and enhance the pre-school service.
• Serve as a ‘Key Person’ for assigned children to foster progress and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with the school's Early Years Team and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo).
• Coordinate closely with office staff regarding admissions, finance, and communication.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a highly competent early years practitioner with leadership experience and a commitment to providing an inspiring learning atmosphere. An interest or background in forest schools or outdoor learning is advantageous. The role involves working as part of a dedicated team including executive leadership and inclusion specialists to offer exceptional care and education tailored to the children's needs.

Terms and Conditions

• Salary falls within Dorset Grade 8 Pay Scale, points 12-20 (M1-M6), ranging from £28,598 to £32,597 per annum full-time equivalent, actual salary £21,702 to £24,737 depending on experience.
• Permanent contract, full-time (32.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm).
• Term time only, 39 weeks per year.
