Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Officer to join the Peabody Business Services team based in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. This role entails ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance for the Wilpinjong Mine located in New South Wales, with potential support duties for other Australian sites. The position requires working closely with site leadership, employees, HR, and the national payroll function to maintain precise payroll and attendance data.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing to guarantee timely and accurate payroll delivery while meeting all regulatory and company policies.
- Oversee and verify time and attendance data via UKG (Kronos) and SAP Employee Central Payroll systems.
- Resolve payroll-related inquiries effectively for employees, supervisors, HR, and operational leaders.
- Provide training and support on payroll and UKG systems to employees and supervisors.
- Collaborate with HR and site stakeholders on roster adjustments, employment changes, and payroll implications related to enterprise agreements.
- Assist with statutory compliance reporting and other payroll-related documentation.
- Contribute to payroll audits, process improvements, and ensure data integrity and documentation updates.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a minimum of five years’ experience in Australian payroll processing.
- Have at least two years of practical experience using SAP Employee Central, SAP ECP, and UKG/Kronos.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of Australian payroll laws, superannuation requirements, Single Touch Payroll (STP), enterprise agreements, and awards.
- Experience managing complex rosters and time & attendance arrangements in payroll.
- Proficient in numerical analysis and intermediate-level Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exhibit excellent organizational abilities to balance multiple priorities and adhere to strict payroll deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with a customer service mindset.
- Capacity to work independently while fostering effective relationships with site and corporate teams, as well as broader payroll groups across NSW and QLD.
- Qualifications in payroll, accounting, or related fields will be considered advantageous.
- Mining industry experience is preferred but not essential.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to the mine site as needed.
