Role Overview

Reporting to the Associate Director of Dining Services, the Nutrition Education Coordinator leads all nutrition and wellness initiatives within the Housing & Hospitality division. This role encompasses planning, creating, implementing, evaluating, and managing evidence-based nutrition and wellness programs. The coordinator delivers targeted educational services supporting the nutritional needs of the H&H community and aligns with dining operations. Responsibilities include organizing wellness outreach for students and staff, collaborating with senior dining leadership, students, parents, and management to address nutrition concerns linked to medical or allergy-related needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Support dining operations, student success, and employee wellness through nutrition education and consultation.
• Advise on menu planning and recipe management, including maintaining nutrition data.
• Develop and conduct training sessions and lead outreach initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to nutrition and allergen standards.
• Maintain and update nutritional information for residential dining locations utilizing the Jamix Food Management System.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2 to 4 years of experience teaching nutrition, health, wellness, and body image education along with program development in educational, research, or public service settings.
• Experience teaching adult learners, particularly in higher education, is preferred.
• Spanish bilingual capability is considered a plus.
• Strong expertise in health promotion and education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engagement with students, faculty, and staff.
• Experience counseling individuals or groups on diet, wellness, and behavior modification.
• Awareness of regulatory and compliance standards relevant to campus dining and health programs.
• Competence in recipe modification techniques and ability to train dining staff accordingly.
• Familiarity with contemporary health promotion, education, and behavior assessment methods.
• Knowledge of diversity and inclusion in nutrition, especially cultural sensitivity in dietary initiatives.
• Preferred experience includes coordinating campus wellness programs, running health campaigns, nutrition research, data analysis, and team collaboration with chefs and dining staff.

Educational and Professional Credentials

• Bachelor's degree with Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification (required).
• Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or related field (preferred).
• Ongoing maintenance of Registered Dietitian certification (required).

Additional Employment Conditions

• Employment is contingent upon passing a background check.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
• Successful completion of a physical examination is required before hire.

Work Schedule and Union

Working hours may vary and include availability on nights and weekends. This position falls under the SV-Student Services & Advanced Professional union (SSAP).
