About the Role

Transport for NSW is seeking a Maritime Services Officer to join the team managing the safe and navigable entrance of the Tweed River and maintaining the coastal sand flow to the southern Gold Coast beaches. This permanent full-time position is based at Fingal Head, NSW, and offers a unique opportunity to engage with a broad network of industry experts on a prestigious coastal project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support operational and maintenance activities consistent with the asset management plan and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations through preventative maintenance and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collect and analyze SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) data to promptly resolve issues in dynamic conditions.
  • Develop operational plans to enhance site productivity and efficiency.
  • Coordinate maintenance work involving external trades and subcontractors.
  • Carry out diverse manual maintenance tasks, utilizing small plant equipment and powered/non-powered hand tools.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Proven practical experience in mechanical equipment and pipeline network maintenance within civil, marine, or industrial multi-skilled environments.
  • Ability to install, repair, observe, and maintain industrial pumping systems and pipeline networks.
  • Proficient in monitoring and troubleshooting pumping systems using SCADA, interpreting related data effectively.
  • Possession of relevant current certifications for operational tasks (examples include Front-End Loader, Elevated Work Platform 11m+, Forklift, Work at Heights, First Aid, Rigging).
  • Trade qualifications in Electrical/PLC, Boilermaking, Pipe Fitting, Mechanical Plumbing are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Understanding of varied environmental work conditions and the multi-skilled nature of the role.
  • Valid Australian driver’s license required; Heavy Vehicle Medium Rigid license preferred.
