Job Overview
As an Interior Technician at West Star, you will handle advanced private aircraft interiors. Your tasks will include installing and removing carpeting, insulation, soundproofing, fabric accessories, and performing minor parts repairs or replacements. You will also engage in basic electrical installations, modifications, refurbishments, and general mechanical applications related to aircraft interiors. The scope of duties will be determined by the Interior Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical work on aircraft interior systems and related components.
- Undertake minor modifications independently with limited supervision.
- Complete daily turnover documentation, manage work orders, and update weight and balance records.
- Maintain and repair shop facilities, tools, and equipment.
- Use basic computer skills to access training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
- Ensure cleanliness of shop areas and immediate surroundings.
- Work autonomously when necessary.
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors or management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid driver's license approved for airline travel or a passport is preferred but not mandatory.

Physical & Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry loads of at least 50 pounds regularly.
- Engage in frequent walking, bending, squatting, sitting, standing for long periods, and climbing ladders or stairs.
- Perform repetitive hand and arm motions requiring dexterity and precision.
- Comprehend and apply regulatory guidelines including OSHA and Hazmat protocols.
- Maintain professional interactions with colleagues.
- Plan and organize work procedures effectively.
- Read and interpret reports and blueprints.
Supervision
- Report to Team Leader and Interior Management.
- May supervise other technicians as assigned.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision when necessary.
Work Environment
- Primarily operates within hangar or shop settings.
- Occasional work performed outdoors on the aircraft ramp.
- Varied positions around and inside aircraft.
Tools & Equipment
- Use of personal hand tools specific to the mechanic's trade.
- Electrical power tools including sanders, saws, and drills.
- Sheet metal cutters, glue guns, metal benders.
- Tugs, power carts, and engine-powered equipment.
- Spray booths and associated equipment.
