Position Summary
The Regional Safety Manager is a vital role responsible for supporting personnel and leadership in the development, execution, and continuous enhancement of the company’s safety program. This position collaborates closely with operations teams to assure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards and fosters a robust safety culture across assigned sites. This is a full-time, on-site role based at the Chattanooga Airport (CHA) location.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with operational leaders to roll out and manage environmental, health, and safety programs.
- Ensure strict adherence to all applicable EHS laws, regulations, and internal company policies.
- Manage environmental programs including maintaining air and water permits, regulatory reporting, and proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
- Monitor safety reporting procedures and support usage of the company's reporting platform (Vocus).
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of West Star Aviation’s Safety Management System (Safety 24/7).
- Prepare, review, and edit safety-related technical documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead monthly Safety Action Team meetings at the assigned location.
- Conduct safety investigations and assist others in carrying out investigations when necessary.
- Deliver comprehensive safety training and maintain accurate training records.
- Promote a culture of safety through diligent reporting, data analysis, and information dissemination.
- Carry out risk assessments and job hazard analyses.
- Stay current with evolving industry regulations, technologies, and best safety practices.
- Collaborate with the Quality department on initiatives related to safety.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in aviation operations and/or safety management.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in aviation safety, maintenance, or operations.
- Strong familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and FAA regulations and guidance.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations is required.
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within fast-paced, safety-oriented teams.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with team members, leadership, and customers.
- Willingness to work extended hours or on days off to support business needs.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and pass airport security background checks.

- Ability to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged durations.
- Capable of lifting weights up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and access equipment as necessary.
- Competent in interpreting and applying regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and collaborative skills.
Work Environment and Conditions
- Work takes place in both office and hangar environments with occasional exposure to varying temperatures and operational conditions.
- Travel up to 50% of the time may be required, predominantly self-directed based on business needs.
Tools and Equipment
- Use of standard office technology including computers and Apple mobile devices.
- Utilization of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and internal safety reporting tools.
