About the Role
Join Marina Bay Sands as a Food & Beverage Commis and contribute to a diverse and inclusive culinary team. In this role, you will perform kitchen duties under guidance, adapting to the business needs and adhering to food safety and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute tasks as directed by Chef de Partie and Sous Chefs, carefully following instructions.
- Adapt to varying schedules and shifts, working any day as business demands.
- Maintain focus on assigned tasks, completing each before moving on to the next.
- Complete work lists assigned by Chef de Partie within set timeframes.
- Participate actively in company training programs with a positive learning attitude.
- Work calmly and efficiently, fostering good relationships within the culinary team.
- Exhibit pride and positivity in your work, ensuring high quality in food products served to guests.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety, sanitation, and fire safety policies and regulations.
- Report any equipment maintenance issues through proper channels.
- Maintain excellent personal grooming and professionalism, particularly when working in public areas.
- Attend work punctually according to schedule and follow correct procedures for any absences.
- Monitor food production to ensure compliance with recipes, presentation, and portion control standards.
- Ensure food quality meets sanitation standards and practice first-in, first-out inventory management.
- Store food items correctly in appropriate refrigeration and containers during shifts.
- Keep culinary work areas clean and sanitary, and encourage colleagues to maintain cleanliness.
- Use kitchen equipment safely and responsibly, instructing peers on proper use when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Degree, Diploma, or Certification in Culinary Arts, Patisserie, or Bakery.
- One to three years of experience in culinary arts, pastry, or bakery work.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to identify various raw materials across categories.
- Knowledge of different types of cuisines.
- Fundamental understanding of cooking techniques and sanitation practices.
- Basic proficiency in food preparation and knife handling.
- Professional appearance and grooming standards.
- Willingness and ability to work shifts as required.
