This role allows you to support the design and creation of advanced laboratory instruments and scientific devices that facilitate customer success.
Work Environment and Schedule
The workweek follows a standard Monday to Friday schedule and operates within an office setting.
Role Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer I, you will engage in product development from initial concepts through manufacturing stages. Collaborating across multiple teams, you will develop and improve mechanical designs employing industry-leading software and methodologies, all while adhering to quality and production standards. The position encourages professional advancement and the chance to make a significant impact through scientific equipment development.
Key Responsibilities and Skills
- Utilize 3D CAD tools, especially SolidWorks, to perform modeling and drafting tasks.
- Apply solid knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals such as mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
- Develop drawings following ASME Y14 standards and incorporate GD&T principles.
- Understand and integrate manufacturing techniques like plastic injection molding, sheet metal work, casting, and welding into design processes.
- Navigate PLM/PDM systems and manage engineering changes efficiently.
- Conduct design analyses including tolerance stack-ups and ensure manufacturability.
- Comprehend product development lifecycles and validation methodologies.
- Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
- Work autonomously and collaboratively in team environments.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and comply with pertinent industry standards.
- Maintain a willingness to acquire new skills and adapt to evolving technologies and processes.
Educational and Experience Requirements
A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a closely related discipline is mandatory. The ideal candidate will have 0 to 2 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
