The Cariboo-Chilcotin School District is situated in the Central Interior of British Columbia, encompassing communities including 100 Mile House, Dog Creek, Horsefly, Likely, Alexis Creek, Tatla Lake, Anahim Lake, and Nemiah Valley. This district is located on the ancestral and unceded territories of the Secwepemc, Tsilhqot’in, and Dakelh First Nations. Key urban hubs such as Williams Lake and 100 Mile House provide easy connectivity to larger urban centers like Prince George, Kamloops, Kelowna, Vancouver, and Whistler. The area boasts affordable real estate and diverse lifestyle options. The district serves approximately 4,400 students across 24 schools with an annual budget allocation of $65 million.

Position Summary

The Cariboo-Chilcotin School District is recruiting for a permanent Director of Instruction, an excluded leadership role. This position involves directing and supporting district priorities related to literacy, numeracy, assessment strategies, and professional learning systems that span the entire K-12 educational environment. The Director will provide leadership, collaborate with various educational stakeholders, and implement evidence-based educational practices to promote continuous improvement. The start date will be mutually agreed upon.

Key Responsibilities

• Offer mentorship and support to principals and vice-principals across the district.
• Lead the development and roll-out of programs aimed at enhancing instructional quality and student learning.
• Evaluate assessment outcomes and advise the education team on actionable insights.
• Serve as a liaison to facilitate communication between schools, parent/caregivers, and community partners.
• Work collaboratively with district teams and school leadership on matters concerning student conduct and support.
• Establish and sustain respectful partnerships with local, regional, and provincial entities.
• Manage and prepare budgets under their oversight ensuring adherence to allocated funds.

Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience

• Demonstrable commitment to the principles of Truth and Reconciliation.
• Recent experience collaborating with Indigenous communities and leadership.
• Proven record of working with educational professionals and teams to strengthen instructional capabilities and outcomes.
• Experience in collecting, analyzing, and using student learning evidence to guide instructional strategies and continuous development.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building aptitude with an ability to operate across diverse groups and departments.
• Proven collaborative leadership style with commitment to shared decision-making processes.
• Possession of a master's degree in education or a related field and a current BC Teaching Certificate.
• Experience in district-level roles or equivalent positions within the public education sector, emphasizing system leadership and school improvement.

Compensation

The compensation for this role ranges between $170,153 and $189,059 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The package includes competitive benefits and paid time off. Detailed information will be provided during recruitment.
