About City of Boroondara
The City of Boroondara is actively evolving to become more customer-focused by leveraging technology, innovation, cooperation, and leadership. This role supports the ongoing Transforming Boroondara Program aimed at enhancing service delivery.
Role Summary
This position involves working in a standalone customer-facing role managing the drive-through waste disposal service for household and small business waste at either the Kew or Riversdale (Camberwell) depots. The successful candidates will ensure visitors are politely greeted, directed to appropriate disposal bins, collect payments, and facilitate a smooth experience.
Working Hours and Locations
- The role requires weekend work only: Saturdays and Sundays.
- Kew Depot hours: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
- Riversdale Depot hours: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers at the gatehouse in a polite and professional manner.
- Guide customers to correct waste disposal bins.
- Handle cash payments and perform end-of-day cash balancing.
- Operate EFTPOS machines and utilize touchscreen technology.
- Manage boom gate operations.
- Maintain accurate records of services provided.
- Educate customers on Council services and appropriate waste disposal policies.
- Open and close the site for public access.

- Proven record with cash handling and balancing procedures.
- Proficient with EFTPOS systems and customer-facing touchscreen devices.

- Capacity to remain composed with challenging customers.
- Dependable with punctuality and responsible attitude.
