Role Overview

BCOS is looking for a seasoned and operationally focused Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the strategic and operational operations of this well-established orthopedic specialty practice. Reporting to the President of the Board of Directors, the CEO will closely collaborate with physician shareholders to guide financial results, ensure organizational well-being, and foster sustainable growth. This position is ideal for a healthcare executive skilled in clinical operations and business strategy who thrives in leadership roles.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a culture of collaboration and accountability with a unified vision for BCOS's future.
  • Act as a visible and accessible leader promoting strong relationships among physicians and staff.
  • Provide mentoring and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Serve as the organization’s key representative in dealings with healthcare organizations, government bodies, and insurers.
  • Function as the main liaison between the Board, its committees, and medical/administrative personnel.
  • Ensure continuous operational evaluation and improvements.
  • Oversee budgeting, accounting, purchasing, auditing, and long-term financial forecasting processes.
  • Regularly assess and report on financial health, liquidity, and growth prospects.
  • Develop financial policies and ensure adherence across the organization.
  • Negotiate payer contracts and maintain competitive reimbursement reflecting service quality and physician expertise.
  • Supervise the preparation of tax filings, financial statements, and compliance reports as required by state and federal laws.
  • Manage the physician compensation model and maintain adequate insurance coverages.
  • Collaborate with physician shareholders to develop and implement strategic plans for growth and market expansion.
  • Explore opportunities for partnerships, affiliations, and enlarging market presence.
  • Maintain legal, accounting, and professional relationships and ensure compliance with bylaws and operating agreements.
  • Engage actively in orthopedic societies and professional associations at various levels.
  • Prepare Board meeting agendas and materials alongside the Board President, attend and present at Board and shareholder meetings.
  • Document and circulate Board meeting minutes promptly.
  • Manage all required annual filings with the Colorado Secretary of State.
  • Lead recruitment and retention strategies for surgeons aligned with organizational expansion goals.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Health Administration or MBA is preferred.
  • Over 7 years of experience in executive leadership roles.
  • At least 5 years managing a specialty or multispecialty medical practice of comparable size and structure.
  • Proven expertise in healthcare finance and payer negotiations.
  • In-depth understanding of the competitive managed care market and healthcare regulations.
