Case Manager, Criminal Assets Management (APS5)

Overview

We are seeking a Case Manager to oversee complex cases relating to restrained and forfeited criminal assets. In this role, you will ensure assets are preserved, managed, and disposed of in alignment with legislative mandates and community expectations. Collaboration is key, as you will coordinate closely with the Australian Federal Police, government bodies, legal representatives, service providers, and internal teams to analyze cases, investigate issues, and deliver expert case management support. Your contributions are vital in safeguarding the integrity of Australia's criminal asset confiscation framework and returning value to the public.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, approve, and process applications following legislation, operational protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Identify complex issues and escalate them appropriately.
• Arrange commercially viable solutions for preserving and timely disposing of significant criminal assets to maximize public benefit.
• Create detailed business correspondence and status updates for key stakeholders.
• Engage with AFSA clients, government agencies, external vendors, legal representatives, and professional organizations.
• Maintain corporate and legislative records accurately in compliance with established standards such as NPII, trustee file management, and case notes.
• Contribute to developing and implementing best practices, process enhancements, and strategic initiatives for effective complex case management.
• Follow APS values, code of conduct, employment principles, workplace health and safety responsibilities, and AFSA's risk management and related legislation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Law, Accounting, or a relevant field from an Australian or comparable overseas institution.
• Experience in insolvency or finance sectors is highly advantageous.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be an Australian citizen.
• Required to hold or be willing to obtain a Baseline security clearance.
• Must pass a police records check for character verification.
• Applicants still within a redundancy period following an APS redundancy may be ineligible.
