About the Role
Become a key member of the exceptional team at Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, a luxurious 4-star spa and golf destination in County Carlow, Ireland. The Spa Manager will oversee all aspects of the renowned spa’s operations, ensuring outstanding guest experiences, driving revenue growth, and cultivating a motivated and professional team environment. This position offers the chance to influence strategic direction while managing day-to-day excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior leadership on financial forecasts, budgeting, and stock management maintaining appropriate levels to meet business needs.
- Manage treatment schedules to balance guest demand and maximize spa revenue while monitoring market trends.
- Achieve commercial targets through coordinated development of spa programs and services, alongside planning annual promotional events.
- Drive sales motivation and set realistic, achievable targets to boost revenue streams.
- Optimize revenue and control labor costs via efficient diary management and regular KPI analysis.
- Design and implement innovative campaigns and mid-week offers in partnership with marketing to enhance bookings.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to create integrated guest packages linking spa, accommodation, dining, and events for increased guest satisfaction and revenue.
- Use customer data and market trends for pricing strategy, service menu refinement, and identifying new income opportunities.
- Support staff development with training focused on upselling, customer service excellence, and operational standards.
- Monitor spa and retail sales performance, motivate staff, and ensure stock control including ordering, rotation, and cost management.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety compliance as per hotel policies.
- Handle guest inquiries and complaints professionally with timely resolution and record-keeping.
- Ensure full orientation and training for all spa personnel to meet ESPA standards and uphold operational procedures.
- Manage spa opening and closing procedures and be fully responsible for spa operations during duty periods.
- Participate in management meetings and model professionalism in conduct and appearance.
- Lead sales and marketing initiatives including service menu planning, retail merchandising, and product development.
- Maintain active networking for business growth and stay updated on industry innovations.
- Prepare staff rotas aligned with operational demands and facilitate weekly scheduling, attendance tracking, and leave management.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals and promote continuous professional development among spa staff.
- Hold monthly staff meetings to discuss team goals, provide motivation, and address employee needs, ensuring follow-up on action items.
- Foster employee engagement through regular communication, recognition programs, and sharing of new policies and initiatives.
- Participate in all training programs to enhance management and team capabilities.
Candidate Requirements
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with strong communication skills.
- Previous supervisory or management experience within a spa environment is essential.
- Computer proficiency, including experience with scheduling and spa management systems.
- Qualified spa therapist background with leadership experience.
- Reception skills preferred, ideally with spa reception familiarity.
- Experience managing multicultural spa teams with effective people management abilities.
- Capability to handle budgeting and profit & loss reviews.
- Excellent personal grooming and professional demeanor.
- Enthusiastic attitude and genuine passion for holistic treatments and skincare.
- Motivational leader able to inspire and develop a team.
