Role Overview
As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks, you will support the store manager by overseeing store operations during your scheduled shifts. This leadership role involves coordinating team members and assigning tasks to ensure every customer experiences high-quality service, timely delivery, and a welcoming environment. You will uphold Starbucks’ core values and contribute to a workplace culture that employees value and enjoy.
Primary Duties
- Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and embody Starbucks' mission and values.
- Maintain composure during busy or challenging times to keep operations running smoothly and set a positive example.
- Assess customer and store needs continuously to anticipate and respond appropriately.
- Communicate with the store manager to facilitate a collaborative, inviting atmosphere referred to as the 'Third Place.'
- Support onboarding and training of new team members through positive reinforcement and constructive coaching.
- Provide feedback to management on staff performance during your shift.
- Contribute to a supportive team environment by recognizing changes in morale or performance and reporting to the store manager.
- Foster a learning atmosphere by offering timely, respectful, and clear coaching to optimize partner performance and operational quality.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by prioritizing customers and building connections.
- Identify and address customer needs promptly.
- Build strong relationships within the shift team by understanding and responding to individual motivations and concerns.
- Manage store operations effectively throughout your shift, including organizing opening and closing procedures.
- Adhere strictly to Starbucks policies on cash handling, safety, and security to ensure partner safety.
- Ensure accurate cash management practices are followed.
- Monitor baristas during shifts to maintain outstanding customer service standards.
- Attend work reliably and punctually.
- Prepare high-quality beverages, whole bean products, and food consistently in line with established recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Comply with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Recognize individual and team achievements using organizational tools and by collaborating with the store manager to develop new recognition methods.
- Use operational resources to drive excellence during each shift.
Experience and Skills Needed
- Customer service background within retail or restaurant environments.
- Capability to lead and direct others.
