Senior Project Engineer - Digital

Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned digital or automation engineer to join our Delivery Engineering Department. This client-facing role involves coordinating multiple project execution activities during the delivery phase. The engineer will report functionally to a Project Manager overseeing a client's contract, ensuring that digital projects are delivered effectively, on schedule, and to the client's satisfaction. The role also demands managing recovery efforts from any deviations in schedule, cost, or scope. Expertise in areas such as planning, scheduling, project execution, cost control, value engineering, coordination, interface management, and solution integration is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, review, implement, and track project execution plans and delivery timelines.
• Work collaboratively under guidance from the Project Manager, Delivery Engineering Manager, and Delivery Specialists to ensure strict adherence to project plans.
• Lead various project stages including design, configuration/build, deployment, testing (FAT/UAT, SAT/iUAT, PATs, etc.), site commissioning, and project closure.
• Identify and communicate any changes in scope, ensuring compliance with Change Control processes.
• Review and approve invoicing processes from clients and suppliers.
• Prepare progress reports and presentations incorporating project performance indicators such as SPI and CPI.
• Closely monitor project metrics and promptly report any risks of delays or deviations.
• Conduct regular meetings with client representatives on-site during execution.
• Ensure all design outputs meet quality standards in line with business requirements and industry benchmarks.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance planning, cost management, scheduling, and quality outcomes.
• Assess and recommend improvements to existing tools and methodologies.
• Lead problem-solving teams internally or externally as assigned by management.
• Provide project management training to junior engineers.
• Contribute to the establishment of standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures as needed.
• Participate in evaluating capabilities of vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers related to project management.
• Maintain expertise in OT, ICS, DCS, SCADA, Historian, OPC UA, IT/OT integration, industrial automation, operational technology, and control systems.
• Perform other tasks as reasonably requested.

Qualifications and Experience

• BSc in Engineering, preferably in Computer Engineering or related disciplines.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in digitalization and software projects.
• Strong background in digitalization and software development lifecycles alongside project management principles; PMP certification, PMI Agile Methodology, or equivalent preferred.
• Proficient in project planning and scheduling techniques such as CPM, PERT, and crunching.
• Certified knowledge and experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Certification in at least one Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) application or component, e.g., Microsoft Power BI.
• Familiarity with client contractual documentation to ensure compliance with schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
• Analytical with strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail; adaptable to managing diverse coordination tasks; quick and independent learner.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective team collaboration.
• Master's degree in engineering or project management is an advantage.

Preferred Expertise

• Background in software engineering.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing Operation Management applications, including but not limited to asset predictive analytics, asset performance management, cost/schedule performance management, operation management, inventory management, and quality management.
