About BCS and Team Overview

BCS, a fully-owned subsidiary of NETS under the NETS Group, operates Singapore's clearing and payment infrastructure such as FAST, Inter-bank GIRO, Cheque Truncation System, PayNow, and SGQR Central Repository. Within BCS, the Technology Division focuses on the operation, support, and maintenance of critical applications including FAST, Giro, CTS, PayNow, SGQR, and others, ensuring operational stability, regulatory adherence, and service reliability.

The Application Delivery team is recognized as the domain experts responsible for enhancing, maintaining, and troubleshooting these applications to uphold their performance, security, and compliance with standards.

Role Summary

The Senior Application Architect will take charge of designing, governing, and delivering scalable, secure, and business-aligned technological solutions that align with organizational strategies. This involves architecture planning, solution design, prototype development, and providing technical leadership through the software development lifecycle. Expertise in Java technologies and AWS, along with skills in SQL query optimization and troubleshooting, are critical.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted technology advisor to business and delivery stakeholders, guiding architecture from strategy and planning to implementation and support.
• Design and maintain robust, scalable, secure, and resilient application architectures supporting essential business operations.
• Define various architecture styles such as layered, service-oriented (SOA), event-driven, domain-driven design, and microservices.
• Engage directly with prototyping and coding activities.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure solution alignment.
• Ensure adherence to security standards and best practices.
• Convert complex business and functional requirements into effective, high-quality technical designs and blueprints.
• Develop integration and data exchange strategies.
• Conduct architecture reviews, performance assessments, scalability planning, capacity estimation, and resilience evaluations to guarantee optimal system operation.
• Create proof-of-concept models.
• Review technical designs, code, and oversee solution assurance to maintain architecture integrity and development quality.
• Support phases including build, deployment, and testing.
• Maintain expert knowledge in Java (SpringBoot, SpringBatch), AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, ECS, CloudWatch), and databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, NoSQL).

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• At least 8 years of hands-on experience in application design and development.
• Strong proficiency in Java technologies, particularly Spring Boot and Spring Batch, with a proven record in enterprise application architecture.
• Experience managing critical applications in both on-premises and AWS cloud environments, ensuring availability, resilience, security, and operational excellence.
• Practical knowledge of SDLC and DevSecOps methodologies, including continuous integration/delivery, automated testing, security integration, and deployment automation.
• Familiarity with AngularJS and modern web application frameworks.
• Experience in regulated financial institutions is advantageous, with understanding of governance, compliance, risk management, and audit processes.
• Detail-oriented with a sense of ownership, a collaborative mindset, and ability to deliver results in fast-moving environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, adept at engaging senior leadership including C-suite and Board members.
• AWS certifications including Solution Architect Associate and Developer Associate are mandatory.
