Job Overview

As a Data Architect at AP+, you will define how data is structured, controlled, and utilized within the technological framework supporting Australia's payment systems. This role involves translating intricate business and information needs into practical, secure, and scalable data architectures. Collaborating across business and technology teams, you will ensure that our data platforms, standards, and architectural decisions support dependable delivery and pave the way for advanced analytics, AI, and next-generation data products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and advance AP+’s data architecture by creating secure, scalable, and reliable data solutions aligned with enterprise strategies and adapting to changing business demands.
• Lead data architecture and design in complex projects, converting business goals and data needs into cohesive conceptual, logical, and physical data blueprints.
• Develop and enforce data architecture standards and governance policies to uphold security, privacy, quality, and architectural integrity across all solutions.
• Provide expert technical leadership on data modelling, integration, platform design, and architecture, evaluating alternatives, risks, and trade-offs.
• Support the growth of AP+’s modern data platforms by designing architectures that enable advanced analytics, AI-based insights, and innovative data products.
• Forge strong partnerships between business and technology teams by simplifying complex data concepts, facilitating architecture decisions, and identifying opportunities to maximize data value.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive experience in Data Architecture, with at least seven years in the field, preferably within payments, banking, or financial services sectors.
• Demonstrated success in designing enterprise data platforms on AWS and Snowflake, including architectures that support advanced analytics, AI-driven analysis, and modern data applications.
• Robust expertise in data modelling and solution design, skilled at transforming complex and ambiguous requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data architectures.
• Strong technical knowledge of contemporary data ecosystems, including SQL, ETL, CI/CD pipelines, Snowflake, with familiarity in analytics and visualization tools like Power BI, and ideally exposure to machine learning analysis.
• Proven leadership abilities in architecture, capable of assessing complex design options, managing architectural risk, and advising both technical and business stakeholders credibly.
• Relevant tertiary degree or equivalent professional experience in data, information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related field. Certifications in architecture or data management are an advantage.
