Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize organizational safety values, especially "Safe equipment and operations," in every task.
- Manage full-cycle semi-monthly payroll processing for all employee types, including hourly, salaried, and variable compensations, ensuring precise and timely payments.
- Handle payroll data management such as entry, audits, reporting, and addressing payroll-related queries internally.
- Use Workday payroll software to validate and execute payroll, managing benefits and deductions effectively.
- Prepare detailed payroll reports, perform year-end reconciliations, manage T4 processing, and administer Records of Employment (ROE).
- Maintain confidential and accurate payroll records within the Human Resource Management System (HRMS).
- Work collaboratively with Finance for payroll reconciliations, journal entries, remittances, and audit support.
- Generate and analyze both recurring and ad hoc payroll reports to support decision-making.
- Develop and maintain payroll procedures and documentation to ensure compliance and consistent operations.
- Coordinate payments related to disability, salary continuance, and Worker's Compensation Board (WCB) in conjunction with HR.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant federal and provincial payroll legislation, company policies, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Enhance payroll functions through continuous improvement efforts, implementing best practices and effectively communicating changes.
Candidate Requirements and Skills
- Possess 3 to 5 years of comprehensive payroll experience, with a strong preference for candidates experienced in year-end payroll processing.
- Familiarity with Workday payroll systems is highly beneficial.
- Having a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities to foster positive relationships across organizational levels.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, to perform data analysis, reporting, and reconciliations efficiently.
- Proven ability to resolve payroll issues, manage priorities amidst competing demands, and maintain accuracy under fast-paced, deadline-driven conditions.
- Professional approach with strong confidentiality and service orientation when interacting with employees, management, and external parties.
- Deep understanding of Canadian employment standards, payroll legislation, and tax regulations.
- High level of attention to detail and dedication to accuracy in all payroll processes.

Working Conditions
- Standard office working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
