About Amentum and Role Overview
Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering and professional services for the US government and allied sectors, is recruiting a Fire Alarm Dispatcher to support a distinctive U.S. Navy program based on Diego Garcia island.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor fire alarm systems continuously, responding rapidly to all alarm signals based on established emergency procedures.
- Handle incoming emergency calls, effectively prioritizing, categorizing, and dispatching fire service personnel to incident locations.
- Operate communication tools including radios, telephones, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to coordinate emergency responses.
- Maintain clear and continuous communication with responders by providing real-time updates during emergencies.
- Precisely log all call details, dispatched units, and subsequent actions for accurate reporting and record-keeping.
- Oversee the proper functioning of alarm systems, swiftly identifying faults and reporting them for quick resolution.
- Assist with monitoring system alarms and managing scheduled maintenance to minimize downtime or prevent faults.
- Work collaboratively with Fire and Emergency Services to ensure smooth coordination during all emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
- Required certifications: Telecommunicator I and II plus Hazmat Awareness, per relevant standards, with new hires acquiring these within the first 12 months to perform independently.
- Between 1 to 3 years of experience in emergency dispatch, fire communications, or related fields.
- Capability to remain composed under emergency pressure, dispatching personnel swiftly and accurately.
- Skillful in operating communication equipment including radios and CAD systems.
- Strong organizational aptitude to maintain thorough records of dispatch and alarms.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to convey clear, concise information.
- Must pass contract medical assessments and maintain fitness throughout deployment.
- Ability to acquire and sustain necessary facility access credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in challenging overseas environments (OCONUS) with diverse multinational teams.
- Valid driver's license for the host country.
- Appropriate country visa aligning with U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Background in fire service dispatch within government, military, or emergency response organizations.
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy or Department of Defense fire and emergency dispatch protocols.
- Advanced emergency dispatch, communication system, or situational response certifications or training.
