Job description
Overview
This role is based in Perth CBD, working Monday through Friday, 45 hours per week, on a 12-month contract for an oil and gas operator. The Estimator will be part of the Capital Projects team, tasked with supporting multiple projects by preparing and managing cost estimates over various project scopes and phases. The role emphasizes delivering consistent, high-quality estimates while promoting standardized procedures and tools to facilitate sound project planning and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Develop cost estimates spanning all project phases and estimate classifications.
- Formulate the Basis of Estimate (BoE) documentation.
- Plan estimating activities thoroughly.
- Participate in Integrated Cost and Schedule Assurance (ICSA) reviews and engagements.
- Conduct cost and schedule risk evaluations, including risk analysis and contingency setting.
- Create cost risk models.
- Coordinate cost estimates between contractors and owners.
- Assess contract costs critically.
- Analyze cost changes and trends.
- Maintain estimate change logs and incorporate risks, vulnerabilities, and opportunities (RVOs).
- Perform project cost benchmarking exercises.
- Contribute to Business Planning (BP) efforts.
- Support Joint Venture Partner (JVP) Work Program and Budget (WP&B) activities.
Required Skills and Experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of the oil and gas sector, including upstream, subsea, onshore, offshore, and downstream segments.
- Proven proficiency in cost estimation, cost analysis, and risk-informed estimating methodologies.
- Understanding of project scheduling and its interrelation with costing.
- Experience providing estimating support for major capital projects, preferably within oil and gas.
- Familiarity with project management practices, tools, and portfolio-level delivery approaches.
- Background in handling large-scale projects valued between USD 1 billion and 10 billion is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated capability to meet project targets in complex environments.
