Role Overview
The Data Analyst will be a foundational member of Stio's Data & Analytics team, collaborating directly with the Director of Data & Analytics. This role encompasses the entire data workflow from infrastructure management, data modeling and transformation, to analytical reporting and BI development. The position supports multiple business units like Finance, Merchandising, Marketing, Operations, and Inventory Planning. Candidates will work with technologies such as Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, Power BI, GitHub, Python, SQL, and R, integrating AI-assisted development tools for code collaboration. This role expects a balance of technical proficiency and curiosity to shape innovative analytics methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders across departments to clarify ambiguous needs and produce actionable analyses, dashboards, and data products end-to-end.
- Create and manage dbt data models, inclusive of tests and documentation, ensuring reliable and comprehensible datasets for human and AI consumption.
- Develop and support semantic layers, reports, and dashboards vital for daily business operations.
- Maintain and lead consensus on metric definitions and business semantics when discrepancies arise among stakeholders.
- Review and validate AI-generated SQL, Python, and dbt code to ensure semantic accuracy beyond basic testing.
- Conduct deep investigations into data anomalies, involving source-system discussions and business model refinements.
- Contribute to the evolution and upkeep of the data platform, including Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, GitHub, Power BI, R, and Python.
- Enhance data governance through practical documentation that optimally supports both team members and AI tools.
- Commit to ongoing skill development aligned with evolving analytics practices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years in roles such as data analyst or analytics engineer.
- Proficient with advanced SQL techniques including CTEs, window functions, and query plan analysis for messy real-world data.
- Experience using dbt for modeling, testing, and documenting data workflows.
- Hands-on familiarity with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar platforms.
- Regular use of Git/GitHub for version control.
- Expertise with one or more BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
- A well-formed perspective on AI-assisted analytics development to validate and enhance AI-generated outputs.
- Proven ability to build trusting partnerships with non-technical stakeholders and communicate analyses effectively to leadership both verbally and visually.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Python and/or R for statistical analysis.
- Experience with technologies used in the current data stack, including Claude Code and Codex.
- Familiarity with business systems such as NetSuite, Shopify, Google Analytics, Segment, and Klaviyo.
- Professional background in direct-to-consumer or omni-channel retail sectors, especially apparel or outdoor goods.
- Experience managing data projects independently in smaller teams.

Compensation
The position offers a competitive salary range from $85,000 to $100,000 annually, with actual salary dependent on individual experience and qualifications.
